Learning Ancient Egypt in Social Studies I
In Mr. Barber’s Social Studies I classes, students are studying how society and social structure (specifically social class) influences and impacts individuals' identities and lives. Students learned about ancient Egyptian social structure and read about the daily life of the pharaoh together. Then students read and annotated short passages about the daily lives of different social classes before sharing what they learned (while practicing English!) in "speed dating" speaking activity. Students then used their new knowledge to write CER (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning) paragraphs answering the question "how did social structure affect daily life in ancient Egypt?".
