Strategic Improvement at NCPA

Targets: 

1. Mission, vision, values and goals will be fully elaborated. 
2. Stakeholders will articulate statements describing how the school should operate; the vision. 
3. A common understanding of the school’s purpose and vision will be present. 
4. Stakeholders will understand and affirm their commitment to the school’s purpose and vision. 
5. The school will begin to create school-wide learner goals. 

Targets: 

1. Support teacher practice around effective assessment.
2. Increase teachers access to and understanding of student achievement data.
3. Develop the faculty’s toolbox for engaging in data analysis collaboratively.
4. Engage in data analysis to make instructional, student support, and curricular decisions.
5. Collect student work samples to support teacher and student understanding of achievement levels.
6. Document our expected English Language Development outcomes and other refinements to our curriculum in Atlas.

Targets: 

1. Continue staff awareness of the SST and GLM processes and provide PD opportunities about Tier 1 interventions.
2. Expand grade level meetings to students in Grade 11 and 12.
3. Track and analyze data generated by GLM and other student support structures.

Targets: 

1. Improve student language acquisition through enhanced focus on intentional language development in the classroom.
2. Promote the usage of language proficiency data to inform instructional practices.
3. Increase student oral language output in English (NCPA’s target language).
4. Continue to promote students’ ability to engage with rigorous grade level texts.
5. Integrate effective learning targets (content & language) into instructional. practice to improve student’s mastery of the target language.

Goal 2: 

1. Articulated process for identifying, enrolling, and supporting students with reading intervention needs based on MAP, WIDA and internal assessment data. 
2. Built master schedule to prioritize common planning time. 
3. Refined guidelines for using PLC time. 
4. Launched the LAC dashboard. 
5. Refined model for implementing the DataWise process in common planning teams. 
6. Integrated assessment literacy into ongoing PD structure through data workshops and faculty-driven PD offerings. 
7. Rebuilt the WIDA testing schedule to be more comprehensive 
8. Began the work of implementing WIDA ELD Framework by unpacking the framework with department leaders.  

Goal 3: 

1. Institutionalized Grade Level Meetings for grades 7-10. 
2. Institutionalized training on Tier 1 interventions through faculty inservice and Learning Team PD workshops. 
3. Counseling department researched tools for tracking sole-possession counselor records.  

School Culture Goal (Concluded June 2021): 

1. Created a system to track current parent involvement. 
2. Created a database to inventory parent-assisted events and experiences. 
3. Developed a proposal to develop outdoor spaces on campus. 
4. Developed a proposal to hang student artwork and photographs.
