Silk Road Exhibition is coming!
The Maritime Silk Road was an important pathway for ancient China to conduct international trade and cultural exchange with the outside world. For more than 2000 years, Guangzhou has been a key component of the Maritime Silk Road. Chinese goods, such as silk and ceramics, were transported to Guangzhou. Exotic spices, pearls, and other imported goods also made their way here from overseas. During this time, cultures from around the world were gathering and exchanging goods in Guangzhou.
To deepen students’ understanding of the relation between Guangzhou and the Maritime Silk Road, and to highlight the unique history and culture of Guangzhou, NCPA will host a self-guided Silk Road Exhibition from April 16-23 on the first floor of Main Hall. The exhibition will highlight three main themes including Guangzhou’s Unique Geographic Location and Environment, Historic Trade Routes from Guangzhou, as well as Guangzhou 's Cultural Heritage. Six historical sites in Guangzhou, the Nanyue King Palace, the Nanyue King Mausoleum, the Guangxiao Temple, the Huaisisheng Mosque, the Ancient Tombs of Muslim Sages, and The South Sea God Temple, will also be introduced as part of this exhibit.
The upcoming exhibition is a part of Maritime Silk Road Traveling Exhibition which is organized by Ignite Academy and Archaeological Site Museum of Nanyue. It is a unique opportunity for NCPA to host this traveling exhibition. The unique partnership between NCPA and the Ignite Academy and Archaeological Site Museum of Nanyue offers students a chance to interact with and learn more about Guangzhou history and culture as well as enhancing their national identity and cultural confidence.
We welcome everyone to join us from April 16 – 23 on the first floor of Main Hall to explore the Maritime Silk Road Traveling Exhibition!
