NCPA has 5 full-time school counselors who work with all grades from middle school through high school. Students are supported in their holistic development of academic and personal/social skills to help them succeed as students, classmates, and community members at NCPA. The high school counselors also support student achievement of a four-year high school academic plan, meeting graduation requirements to receive our U.S. High School Diploma, and completing college application requirements.
According to the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) standards, the services provided by the counselor typically fall into three domains: academic, personal/social and college/career. Effective counseling programs are important to the school climate and a crucial element in improving student achievement. Counselors help students identify challenges and set goals to develop a clear focus. The NCPA school counselors consult with students, parents, and teachers to help students be successful in both academic and personal aspects of their lives.
As students move into the upper grades (Grade 11, 12) at NCPA, the counselors support and coordinate efforts to focus increasingly on college and career preparation.
