* Create a four-year high school plan. Think about what you’d like to accomplish in the next four years.
Think and talk with your counselor about what you’d like to accomplish in the next four years, & what electives you should consider taking in 10th grade. Get to know courses offered at NCPA.
* Start thinking about your life after school. What types of jobs are interesting to you? These will change - often - but start opening yourself up to the possibilities.
Through 9th grade Advisory, develop understanding of strengths and interests, take inventories on Naviance, begin to develop short- and long-term goals.
Start to communicate with other people such as your school counselor, teachers, NCPA Alumni, professionals in the community, etc. about careers you might find interesting.
* Meet with your high school counselor. Your counselor knows how to help you get the most out of high school. Discuss your post-high-school plans with your counselor!
* Participate in extracurricular activities. Explore your interest in a sport, club, music group, or community activity.
Remember that colleges would rather see real involvement in one activity instead of a loose connection to many activities.
O Summer Holidays.Look for a job, internship, or volunteer position during your summer vacations that will help you to learn more about a field of interest.
